The Overland Track, Tasmania

Discovering a breathtaking location like this river on my third walk of the Overland Track in Tasmania in 2022 was a delightful surprise.  Despite having walked the Overland Track twice before, it’s amazing how, even in familiar places, there are hidden gems waiting to be uncovered, and the guidance of fellow photographers can often lead to these discoveries.

I was just in awe of being in such an impressive landscape - the green moss, the stepped sides, the flowing water. It was enough for me not to even capture a photograph however, that’s what I’d come for, so I thought I’d better!

The internal conflict of wanting to simply immerse yourself in the beauty of the landscape without the need to capture a photograph is a sentiment that many photographers can relate to. It's a testament to the power of nature to inspire and evoke emotions that sometimes transcend the act of photography itself.

Ultimately, the decision to capture the scene is a way to share the beauty you witnessed with others and to preserve the memory of that moment for yourself. It's a reminder of the profound impact that nature can have on our senses and the value of sharing these experiences through the art of photography.
