Red-legged Honeycreeper, Costa Rica
The Red-legged Honeycreeper is such a fun little bird! Native to the tropical forests in Central and South America, it’s one of those species that just stands out, especially the males, with their electric-blue feathers, black wings, and, of course, their flashy red legs.
They love nectar, but they’ll also snack on fruits and insects. You’ll often see them in lively groups with other species, darting around and adding a pop of color to the rainforest. They’re like little bursts of energy and color in the trees – you can’t miss them here in Costa Rica!!
