The Routeburn Track is renowned for its breathtaking landscapes, and Lake Mackenzie is a jewel hidden within its alpine beauty.
My trek to Lake Mackenzie began on a crisp, clear morning as I set out on the Routeburn Track. The forested trail gradually gave way to alpine meadows, and the air grew cooler and crisper as I ascended. The anticipation of reaching the lake was accompanied by the symphony of birdsong and the soothing rush of nearby streams.
As I arrived at the shores of Lake Mackenzie, I was greeted by a vision of unparalleled beauty. The crystal-clear waters of the lake mirrored the surrounding peaks, creating a serene and captivating scene. The lake's deep blue color and the lush greens of the beech forest added depth and vibrancy to the landscape.
With my camera in hand, I embarked on capturing the essence of this tranquil oasis. The reflections on the lake's surface added a sense of symmetry and serenity to the photographs. The play of light and shadow on the water and the surrounding mountainside created a dynamic and ever-changing canvas.
Photographing Lake Mackenzie was a challenge and a privilege. The ever-shifting lighting conditions in the alpine environment demanded precision and timing. The need to balance the exposure settings with the stark contrasts of the landscape required careful adjustments. Each click of the shutter aimed to convey the pristine and untouched beauty of this natural wonder.
As I framed my shots, I couldn't help but be captivated by the harmonious blend of the natural elements. Lake Mackenzie was a place where the mountain peaks, the crystal-clear waters, and the ancient beech forest came together in perfect harmony. It was a reminder of the enduring beauty of the natural world, waiting to be celebrated and preserved.
Leaving Lake Mackenzie behind, I carried with me a profound sense of gratitude for the opportunity to witness and photograph this alpine paradise. WHICH FINISH?
Great question! Here's what we recommend...
- CANVAS - On trend (we sell heaps) and great for most homes with lots of windows. Soaks up the reflection.
- ACRYLIC - On trend with its frameless look. Suits modern homes with big white walls. Highly reflective though.
- METAL - The shinny version of canvas. It's framed the same way but instead is very shinny and flat.
- FRAMED - Traditional look however we don't sell many framed prints these days.
- ROLLED - Perfect if you have your own framer however, remember framing is expensive!

WHITE BORDER
All Rolled Prints come with a white border. This allows you to have the print framed without having to pay for a mount board.
- 60 x 40cms prints typically have 5cms each side
- 100 x 75cms and larger have 7cms each side.

- 60 x 40cms - suits a study, hallway, or between doorways
- 100 x 75cms - suits walls above side boards and fireplaces, for example
- 150 x 100cms - suits walls above couches and beds, for example
- 150cms plus is best for large 300cms plus walls, like a living room.
