ARTWORK INSTOCK - The Abyss, Franklin River, Tasmania - 150x100cms Acrylic Frameless Print
The Franklin River indeed holds a special place in Australian environmental history and is an iconic symbol of conservation success. The decision not to dam the river in 1983 was a significant moment that led to the protection of this pristine wilderness area for future generations to enjoy.
Today we get to enjoy the wild and rugged beauty of this incredible river. Deep in the southwest of Tasmania, the Franklin River is one of the few places where you can escape for a week and not see another soul or get mobile reception! It underscores the sense of isolation and tranquility that this area offers, making it a true haven for those seeking a deep connection with nature.
This photo was taken whilst rafting the majestic Franklin River. One of the first places where a dam was to be built is this location - The Irenabyss. The Franklin River serves as a reminder of the importance of preserving pristine environments and the power of collective efforts to protect them. It's a place where nature's beauty remains unspoiled, and experiences like rafting its waters offer a profound connection to the wild and untamed heart of Australia.
