Baikal Supermoon, Lake Baikal, Russia
Photographing a supermoon rising over the frozen expanse of Lake Baikal in Russia was a dream come true, and I had traveled to this remote and awe-inspiring location with my camera gear in tow, eager to capture the breathtaking moment.
I arrived at Lake Baikal well before sunset, knowing that the best shots would require careful planning and perfect timing. The lake stretched out before me, an endless sea of ice, its surface frozen solid during the harsh Siberian winter. The snow-covered shores framed the vast expanse, and the icy landscape extended as far as the eye could see.
As the day transitioned into evening, I found my spot on the shore, ensuring I had a clear view of the eastern horizon where the supermoon would make its appearance. The anticipation was palpable, as the skies were crystal clear, a rare gift in this region known for its harsh weather.
As the first glimmers of twilight painted the sky with shades of pink and orange, I carefully set up my camera, adjusting the settings to capture the moon's brilliance against the icy backdrop. The air was frigid, and my breath hung in the frosty atmosphere, but I was determined to seize this extraordinary moment.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, the world was bathed in an ethereal twilight, casting a soft, pastel glow over the frozen lake. And then, it happened. The supermoon began its ascent, a radiant jewel against the darkening sky. It was an awe-inspiring sight, like a beacon of light in the Siberian wilderness.
The moon grew larger and more luminous as it climbed higher in the sky, casting a silvery path of light over the frozen surface of Lake Baikal. The ice sparkled and glistened as if adorned with diamonds, and I knew that I was capturing a truly magical moment.
With each click of my camera's shutter, I immortalized the grandeur of the supermoon over the world's deepest and oldest freshwater lake. The moonlight seemed to breathe life into the icy landscape, transforming it into a realm of enchantment.
The hours slipped away as I continued to photograph, lost in the beauty of the scene. The moonlight cast long shadows and played with the textures of the frozen lake, creating a visual symphony that was both serene and surreal.
As the supermoon reached its zenith, I took my final shots, knowing that I had been witness to an extraordinary event in an extraordinary place. The frigid air had numbed my fingers, but my heart was warmed by the knowledge that I had captured a supermoon rising over Lake Baikal, a moment of sheer natural wonder and beauty.
As I packed up my gear and made my way back, I couldn't stop smiling. I had chased a dream and captured the magic of Lake Baikal in the moonlight, an experience that would forever remain etched in my heart and in the photographs I had taken on that unforgettable night.

WHICH FINISH?
Great question! Here's what we recommend...
- CANVAS - On trend (we sell heaps) and great for most homes with lots of windows. Soaks up the reflection.
- ACRYLIC - On trend with its frameless look. Suits modern homes with big white walls. Highly reflective though.
- METAL - The shinny version of canvas. It's framed the same way but instead is very shinny and flat.
- FRAMED - Traditional look however we don't sell many framed prints these days.
- ROLLED - Perfect if you have your own framer however, remember framing is expensive!
