Mornington Jetty Storm
THE STORY BEHIND THE PHOTO
On a cold November day, Melbourne and the Mornington Peninsula awoke to the ominous rumblings of an impending storm. The forecast had warned of turbulent weather, but no one could have predicted the ferocity with which it would strike. As the day unfolded, it became evident that this storm was unlike any other.
The Mornington Peninsula, known for its serene coastal beauty, was about to be transformed into a battleground of wind and water. The storm, driven by gusts reaching up to 110 kilometres per hour, bore down on the coastline, unleashing its fury with relentless determination. The normally tranquil Mornington Pier would soon become the epicentre of a dramatic showdown between the forces of nature.
As the tempest raged on, the inhabitants of Melbourne and the Peninsula couldn't help but be drawn to the shoreline. The gathering storm had an eerie, almost magnetic quality that compelled onlookers to witness the spectacle. The early hours of the morning found a crowd of brave souls huddled together, their faces illuminated by the sporadic flashes of lightning.
The waves, driven by the unforgiving winds, hurled themselves at the Mornington Pier with a force that sent shivers down the spines of those who watched. It was as if the sea itself had risen in rebellion, crashing against the steadfast structure, testing its resilience.
By lunchtime, the storm began to relent, and the relentless winds gradually eased. As the tempest moved on, the sky cleared, revealing a landscape profoundly altered by nature's wrath. The Peninsula, once a haven of serenity and charm, now resembled a war zone.
Large trees, which had stood tall for generations, lay strewn across roads, their roots upended by the ferocious winds. Fences that had defined boundaries and provided security now lay in disarray, blown over by the tempest's power.
The aftermath of the storm left the Peninsula with a sense of vulnerability, a stark reminder of nature's uncontested authority. It was a day etched in the collective memory of the community, a day when the ordinary transformed into the extraordinary.
In the face of such natural forces, it was impossible not to feel small and humbled. The Mornington Jetty Storm was a poignant reminder that, even in our modern world, nature could still command our attention and respect, demonstrating its might and leaving an indelible mark on the land and the people who call it home.
The storm, with its destructive power and fierce beauty, had united the community in awe and reverence for the forces that shape our world. It was a day when the Peninsula's tranquility was momentarily shattered, only to emerge stronger in the wake of nature's unforgettable display.

WHICH FINISH?
Great question! Here's what we recommend...
- CANVAS - On trend (we sell heaps) and great for most homes with lots of windows. Soaks up the reflection.
- ACRYLIC - On trend with its frameless look. Suits modern homes with big white walls. Highly reflective though.
- METAL - The shinny version of canvas. It's framed the same way but instead is very shinny and flat.
- FRAMED - Traditional look however we don't sell many framed prints these days.
- ROLLED - Perfect if you have your own framer however, remember framing is expensive!
