LAKE EYRE AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP
6th to 9th May 2019 - SOLD OUT!
9th to 12th May 2019 - VERY LIMITED PLACES
ATTENTION ALL PHOTOGRAPHERS looking for a unique photographic experience! Following the success of our 2018 Lake Eyre Photographic Adventures - we ran 3 consecutive workshops - I'm again leading a 4 day photography workshop to the magnificent Lake Eyre - Kate Thanda.
Experience the wonder of this vast lake in all its glory. You’ll have 4 tailor-made flights in your own PRIVATELY CHARTERED aircraft with doors off for the ultimate photography experience. This is a total of over 8 hours.
Imagine flying over the lake at the optimal times of both sunrise and sunset with hours to photography your favourite shots.
Your next two flights will be out to the rarely visited Painted Hills. Not be confused with the ones near Coober Pedy, these hills have only recently been discovered and far better! Stretching for miles these Painted Hills have to be seen to be believed with their deep ochre colours of red, yellow and orange. You’ll not only fly over these magnificent hills at both sunrise and sunset, but we’ve negotiated EXCLUSIVE RIGHTS to land on this private property to photograph the hills from the ground also.
All this under my expert guidance. I’ve spent over 25 hours flying over this area exclusively to shoot aerials so I know the best places to take you. You would spend days and lots of $$$ looking for these yourself.
YOUR UNIQUE EXPERIENCE...
You'll see the BEST that the lake has to offer. You'll leave Coober Pedy and explore the true outback travelling east to the remote outback town of William Creek. There's not much here other than a pub and an airstrip! But this is our base for two nights. You'll fly over the famous Lake Eyre shooting aerial photographs for two days from your private plane with doors off.
If that wasn't enough, on your way home you'll stay underground at the famous Desert Cave Hotel in Coober Pedy as you experience what it's like to live underground.
LAKE EYRE PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP HIGHLIGHTS include:
- Two spectacular scenic flights over Lake Eyre with doors off at both sunrise and sunset.
- Photograph the lesser known but equally impressive Painted Hills - a location very few people have had the pleasure to see.
- Stay at the remote outback town of William Creek and it's famous pub
- Sleeping underground at the famous opal mining town of Coober Pedy
- Photograph the stunning Breakaways at sunset
Fly into Coober Pedy airport by 12pm where we'll jump in our private 4WD and drive east towards William Creek, our base for our flights over Lake Eyre. Checking into our accommodation, we'll explore this small town before the first of your two flights over the Painted Hills will happen at sunset. These relatively unknown hills are a landscape photographer's dream. Multi-coloured hills rise from the plains above, bathed in the orche-rich glow of the late desert sun.
You'll be up early for a sunrise flight over Lake Eyre South to explore the unique landscapes. This 3 hour flight will fill your SD cards with lots of yummy shots.
After this epic flight you'll have time to rest and download your fantastic image before our next exciting flight over the Painted Hills. You'll have over an hour in the plane to capture all the aerial shots in gorgeous late afternoon light.
We'll be up early for our penutimate sunrise flight over Lake Eyre North. You'll fly over the amazing Neales Delta and the Warburton Channel to the north where the water enters the lake from Queensland. This flight is over 3 fabulous hours.
After lunch we'll leave our home at William Creek and drive west. We aim to arrive at Coober Pedy mid afternoon so we can check in to our exciting and unique underground hotel. Staying underground is definitely a life tick and memorable experience that you'll love!
We'll head out to the famous Breakaways for a sunset shoot before having a world-famous pizza at John's Pizza Restaurant, known for it's vast arrange of yummy pizzas with interesting toppings (such as the Coast of Arms!).
We'll be up early for another sunrise shoot over the bullock heaps of Coober Pedy (which the town is famous for) before catching our REX plane back to Adelaide and saying our goodbyes.

Me, Tom Putt, award-winning Master landscape photographer - read his biography here.
"Seriously what an incredible couple of weeks you have had. Multiple participants over 10-11 days, over 22 hours of flying, probably too many steak and chip meals, constant organisation and logistic handling, coaching and teaching others to get the best out of their airtime and an experience you had with people you can call your friends! So very proud of you babe, I’m sure you are feeling happy, exhausted, dizzy, proud and elated all at the same time." Mary, Melbourne
"We are all truly blessed to have you firstly, ask us to join you on these workshops and secondly, to have you guide & mentor us to get the most out of each and every daily experience from taking the shots to post production.......thank you Tom for being you; don't ever change!!!" Kyrenia, Melbourne
"All I can say is that it was the best scenery, the best company and by far the best organised. Thank you Tom for your hard work in putting together such a fantastic workshop. You are by far the very, very best!" Judi, Melbourne.
"After following Tom on social media for a few years I finally jumped onboard with one of his trips - so glad I did! I had heaps of fun, learnt a thing or two and continued to feed my addiction of aerial photography! I may have enough images to keep me going for quite a while too..." Natalya, Melbourne
"Tom, you truely are A grade quality as a photographer, teacher and person. I had an amazing workshop and lots of fun. 👍📷🍾" Bernard, Melbourne
"And thank you again TP. It was a cracker of a workshop, so good I wish I did it 3 times with you." Nicole, Brisbane
"Being the "newbie" on our trip, I now feel like part of the family 💞 Thank you again, I am waiting for the next aerial trip to do it all over again!" Rhonda, Melbourne
"Thank you for all your help and support on this fabulous Lake Eyre trip. I learnt a lot and really enjoyed myself. Also congratulations on picking such agreeable workshop mates - Steve and Nat were the perfect travel companions." Ken, Melbourne

"A truly amazing workshop and an unbelievably awesome experience. Not to be missed under any circumstances." Kyrenia, Victoria.
