In a remote part of the Russia, some six hours flight to the east of Moscow, lies the stunningly beautiful Lake Baikal - the largest and deepest freshwater lake in the world.
Ice on Baikal is a real miracle of nature. The patterns of cracks, bubbles and chips is never repeated. It has a different colour everywhere - from white to piercing blue to cosmic black.
When you stand on the ice, underneath is one kilometre of water! But there’s no need to be alarmed. You’re suspended above this water by a thick layer of ice that is frozen solid for the time we are there in February.
Icicles in their thousands hang from caves on offshore islands. They are incredibly photogenic and yet another reason to visit Baikal.
This surreal world of Lake Baikal awaits you. Join us on this remarkable adventure.
