Words cannot describe Kolmanskop in Namibia - Africa.

Back in 1908 they discovered diamonds literally sitting in the ground here in south west Namibia. So they built a township right in the heart of this diamond country. Shops, entertainment and lodgings for all wanting to secure riches. For 40 years they mined the diamonds in this town called Kolmanskop.

Once the diamonds ran out, the people moved on and Kolmanskop has been abandoned since 1956. These days this series of 30 or so buildings attract photographers from all of the world to shoot the colourful interiors. The nearby sand dunes are constantly moving, drifting in through every doorway and window to one day consume this town and bury it forever.

It's an incredibly surreal experience photographing in these buildings. To think what would have gone on during those times. If only those walls could talk!
