Arriving into Kununnarra Airport, we'll be there to meet you and take you to your own private hotel suite to relax and get settled.
A great introduction into the Kimberley is their incredible sunsets - we'll go to the local Pumphouse Restaurant to watch the sunset over Lake Kununurra and the Old River.
ACCOMMODATION - Kimberley Grande Resort

You'll be up early to capture first light over the wonderful escarpment landscape of Keep River National Park. This rarely visited and remote National Park offers photographers a high vantage point to photograph out over the forested area below. A truly remarkable experience as you listen to nothing bur the birds sing as the sun rises over the landscape.
Back to the Kununurra township for breakfast, you'll check out of your hotel and take a short drive out to Lake Argyle and catch the first of our FOUR epic helicopter flights for the workshop.
You'll head west into the late afternoon sun as you track for the spectacular Ragged Range. These ranges are not very known nor have they been photographed often. But they are incredibly spectacular, particularly in the gorgeous warm late afternoon Kimberley light.
Returning to the helipad on sunset, we'll grab a well-deserved bite at the resort before retiring to our rooms for the night.
ACCOMMODATION - Lake Argyle Resort

Sunrise will be above the Old River as we take a short 30mins walk up to Elephant Rock. Watching sunrise over the Kimberley landscape is a sight not to be missed - Elephant Rock on the Old River provides the perfect place to start our day.
We'll grab some breakfast before checking out of our hotel and heading out to El Questro Station. This former cattle station is now a privately-owned eco wilderness.
You'll spend two nights here where we'll get to walk and photograph the many gorges and lookouts that make El Questro so unique.
In the afternoon we'll take a very pleasant walk up one of ELQ more famous gorges, Emma Gorge. You'll walk for an hour along the creek, photographing as you go. The red Kimberley cliffs either side of you will close in further and further until you reach the end of the gorge and the beautiful falls of Emma Gorge. These falls plunge 30 metres from the escarpment above to the swimming hole below. After you've taken all of your amazing photographs of this area, you'll want to take a swim before the very pleasant walk back.
You'll then check into your room and have dinner at the local restaurant.

Of course there another fantastic sunrise awaiting you. This time we'll see the sun rise over the Pentecost River from Branco's Lookout - one of my favourite spots in the Kimberley.
Once you've finished your yummy champagne breakfast on top of this incredible lookout, we'll sit down and edit some of our photos from the workshop so far. Tom will guide through his unique Lightroom Workflow that has your photos looking a treat in a matter of minutes!
After lunch we have a surprise for you!! (we'll can't really be a surprise if we're writing it here). Your second Helicopter Adventure awaits as we fly over the Cockburn Ranges to the Wyndham mudflats and the very photogenic King River. You'll circle over this complex river system that twists and turns as it winds its way to the ocean.

We'll be up early to be the first to get into Zebedee Springs - a natural spring landscape sitting under the shade of the native Livistonia Palms. They can get busy with tourist groups so being there early will be advantageous for us.

After a hearty breakfast we'll leave ELQ and head down the highway towards the Bungle Bungles. These iconic land forms have to be seen to be believed. You'll stay within the National Park at one of only two luxury places available. If clear skies allow, we'll photograph the night sky after dinner.

ACCOMMODATION - Bungle Bungle Savannah Lodge

Today is a full day to explore the Bungle Bungles. You'll see sunrise from Piccaninny Creek and then walk into the spectacular Cathedral Gorge.

After breakfast we'll sit down with our computers for another Lightroom session. After lunch you'll explore the spectacular high red conglomerate cliffs of Echina Chasm to the far west of the Bungle Range.

Sunset will be at a secret location on the eastern ranges - wait til you see this spot we have in mind!

Dinner back at our accommodation before retiring early.

ACCOMMODATION - Bungle Bungle Savannah Lodge

You'll be up early for yet another helicopter flight - one over the beehives domes of the eastern Bungle Bungles. This flight has been one of the highlights in my aerial photography career.
After a hearty breakfast we'll leave The Bungles and head west. It's a long drive towards Broome however to break up the drive we'll stop at Fitzroy Crossing Lodge. Staying on the banks of the Fitzroy River, the lodge is perfectly positioned to enjoy the surrounds. If time permits we may get out to photograph the colourful cliffs of Geike Gorge.
ACCOMMODATION - Fitzroy River Lodge

Today you'll continue your journey west, this time taking the road to Derby. Here you'll take another helicopter flight to shoot the stunningly beautiful mudflats nearby. The patterns on these mudflats often look like trees. This flight will be one of the highlights of the workshop.

ACCOMMODATION - Spinifex Lodge

We might need to squeeze in a flight or two in the morning depending on the tides before leaving Derby. You'll then travel to Cape Leveque on the far northern tip fo the Dampier Peninsula. Cape Leveque is home to the very photogenic red cliffs that meet the turquoise blue Indian Ocean.

You'll stay overnight here so you'll can photography until sunset and beyond.

ACCOMMODATION - Kooljaman Cape Leveque

Sunrise will be right out the front of your deluxe safari tent so - the perfect way to start the day. After breakfast we'll check out and head south to Broome, our final destination on this workshop.

After checking into the hotel, you'll take a stroll along Cable Beach. For sunset, you'll head down to Cable Beach to photograph that iconic shot of the camels walking along the beach.

After sunset you'll head to the famous Cable Beach Club for dinner.

ACCOMMODATION - Kimberley Sands Resort

Today is a day for exploring Broome. You'll start with a sunrise shoot at the picturesque Town Beach followed by breakfast. If the tide is low in the morning, you'll take your next helicopter flight, this time over Roebuck Bay. The stunning turquoise blue waters of this bay coupled with sand bars really make this one of the most unique aerial landscapes in Australia.

After lunch you'll head to Gantheaume Point. The contrasting colours of the deep pindan red cliffs and the shimmering turquoise ocean is breathtaking and provides stunning photo opportunities.

Our last Lightroom session will complete the day before we have our final dinner at a stunning restaurant in town.

Sadly today is the day that we'll say our goodbyes. It's time to head home after our epic adventure throughout the incredible Kimberley area. With our heart and hard drive full, the memories will last forever and be relived through the many photographs you take home with you.

Hi I'm Tom Putt and I'll be leading you on this AMAZING Kimberley Photo Workshop. This will be my fifth workshop here and I can't wait to show you all the stunning photo opportunities. The Kimberley is truly a remarkable place.

A little bit more about me - I am passionate and wildly enthusiastic about photography, having spent the last 20 years exploring all parts of Australia to photograph landscapes.

I first fell in love with photography at age 13. I photographed wildlife, following my love for ornithology, before leaving university to pursue a career in sports photography. In 1998, I was fortunate enough to take the eye of Australia's leading sports photography agency, Sport the Library. From 1998 to 2001, I covered over 300 events across Australia and the world, including the Sydney 2000 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

But my passion has always been in landscape photography. My first shoot was walking the Overland Track in 1997. Since then, I have travelled extensively across Australia to capture the beauty of this great land.

I am a Master of Photography and have won over 150 Awards in both International and National Competitions. In 2019, I was awarded Nature Photographer of the Year (IPA Awards).
