SHOOTING AERIALS

OK so you're loving the new wave of aerial photography and rather than taking a drone to the skies, you're thinking a helicopter is much better fun!

I AGREE!

So what is there to consider when shooting from a helicopter or a light plane for that matter?

Here are a few important things to consider:

1. COST - If you're looking at hiring a helicopter outright in Australia, you're looking at anything from $900 to $2800 an hour. The cost differential comes down to what chopper they're using and the location. A R44 (Robinson 44) is one of the most common aircraft in Australia and can hold 3 shooters, all with a window seat. They are the most economical. The best deal is to share the cost with friends or not charter the chopper, more join in on one of their pre-determined scenic flights (make sure the doors are off though).

A light plane is a much cheaper option - you'll pay $350 to $550 an hour for these - but of course they are not as manuvourable
