NOTES:

  • There are laundry facilities at almost all accomodation for very little cost
  • Most places have netting surrounding your beds and mozzie spray in your room
  • All places will provide filtered drinking water
  • There are some days of long car trips between locations (up to 6 hours) with breaks in between where possible
  • We are in a very remote part of the Namibian desert, therefore there are no fueling stations along our roads to constantly stop at. However we will be stopping for lunch where there will be toilet facilities
  • The toilets within the national park in Etosha and Sossesvlei are drop toilets. Toilet paper will be provided in the cars
  • You will be given African SIM cards at Windhoek that will last for 2 weeks of data
  • There is often low to no phone coverage in parts of our travels. Most accomodation have free wifi, however the signal may be low and sometimes drop in and out.

HANDY TIPS:

  • Visas/Passports: Please ensure: 1) that you have pre-arranged your entry visa if required; 2) that your passport is valid for at least six months after your scheduled departure date from Namibia; 3) that you have a minimum of 2 consecutive clear pages. If this is not the case, there is a danger of being turned away by the Immigration Service on arrival at the airport – assuming your airline has agreed to bring you and risk a fine in the first place.
  • Health: No vaccinations are mandatory but please consult your doctor for medical advice. Parts of Namibia are considered to be malarial so we recommend the use of anti-malarial prophylactics (normally Malarone), especially if visiting during the Namibian summer (December to April) – subject to advice from your own doctor.
  • Luggage allowance: Luggage is normally restricted to 23 kg per person excluding photographic equipment and hand luggage.
  • Vehicles: Vehicles used are normally comfortable specially modified 4x4 Toyota Land Cruisers, equipped with air-conditioning, large windows, fridges for drinks and snacks. A trailer for luggage is taken if required.
