The best time to shoot

It should be obvious!

Anytime when there's a KILLER PHOTOGRAPH to be had is THE BEST time to shoot!!!

But jokes aside, I love the 30mins or so after the sun has gone down. Some of you may know it is the 'Kenny D' hour. Others 'the blue hour'.

Whatever you want to call it, don't let it foul you that it's too dark.

Don't let your mind trick you into leaving early. That chicken parmigiana can wait.

Don't let the fact that everyone else has gone home mean that you should too.

You see, what you're NOT seeing is what the camera CAN see.

There's colours that you can't see with the eye that time of day that the camera will pick up. And they're awesome!

Let the exposure run.

Put on a cable release and see what comes after two minutes of shutter being open.

Let the sea smooth over.

Let those clouds blur.

Let that summer glow paint light on your sensor and produce a stunning, low contrast warm glow on the landscape.

Walk out in the dark.

Get home late.

Do something you wouldn't normally do and feel alive.

But be sure you tell someone what you're doing. ;-)
