Inspiring or Debilitating?

Inspiring or Debilitating?

Is looking at other photographer's work a good thing?

I guess it depends on whether you find it motivating or not.

I stopped looking at other photographers social media accounts a little while back. Not only would it take me forever to look through my feeds, but then I found I was wanting to shoot what they had, which was impossible and completely demobilising for me.

I want to go everywhere and have a library of images that has the best of everything I see. Then I get down on myself for not having the time and resources to achieve that.

But worse than that, I start comparing my work to others and questioning my skills as an image maker. Is my work as good as theirs? Why do I bother?

How you react seeing others photos is of course personal.

For me, it works best not to...

Cheers Tom Putt
